Alberto Lista

Alberto Rodríguez de Lista y Aragón ( * October 15, 1775 in Seville, † October 5, 1848 in Seville) was a Spanish mathematician, poet, writer and literary critic.

Life

Don Alberto Lista y Aragón studied at the University of Seville, received in 1803 the chair of philosophy at the College of San Isidoro at Seville, in 1806 the fine arts and in 1807 professor of rhetoric and poetics at the University there.

Become volatile during the invasion of the French, he did not return until 1817 returned to his native country, where he was employed in the following year as a teacher at the academy to Bilbao.

Since 1820 he edited in Madrid Magazines: El Censor and El Imparcial, since 1828 in Bayonne, the Gaceta de Bayona, announced in 1830 Estafeta de San Sebastian out and took over after both newspapers were suppressed, 1833, the editors of the Gaceta de Madrid, to he 1837 the professorship of higher mathematics at the University of Madrid received.

But the very next year he resigned this office also to take over the management of the College of San Felipe Neri, Cadiz, which he led until 1840.

Lista was one of the largest among the more recent Spanish poets; with a rich imagination and a deep sense he combined a delicate taste and a genuine philosophical outlook on life. On completion of the form and expression, namely to grace the versification, he stands in the history of modern Spanish poetry unsurpassed. His POESIAS published in Madrid in 1822; He was also included in the Biblioteca de autores españoles, Vol 67.

  • Tratado elemental de Geometría. Aplicación del Álgebra a la Geometría y Trigonometria rectilíneas. Bilbao: Antonio Apraiz, 1819 ( 2 vols ).
  • Colección de Trozos escogidos de los mejores hablistas castellanos, en verso y prose: hecha para el uso de la Casa de Educación, sita en la calle de San Mateo de la Corte ( 2 vols ), a goodly pattern collection of Spanish poetry and eloquence;
  • Historia Universal, an adaptation of Ségurs Histoire universelle continued up to the latest time;
  • Lecciones de literatura dramatica esplicadas española en el Ateneo científico, Literario y Artístico (Madrid 1839) and
  • Ensayos Literarios y críticos (Sevilla 1844, 2 vols ).

He also wrote a supplementary volume to Juan de Mariana and José Manuel Minanas Historia de España ( Madrid 1828).
