Albrecht of Saxe-Weissenfels

Albrecht ( Albert ) of Saxe- Weissenfels (* April 14, 1659 in Halle, † May 9, 1692 in Leipzig) was a born prince and ( Titular ) Duke of Saxe- Weissenfels and came from a branch of the Albertine Wettin.

Family

Albrecht was the fifth and youngest son of Duke Augustus of Saxe - Weissenfels and his first wife Anna Maria of Mecklenburg -Schwerin, daughter of Duke Adolf Friedrich I of Mecklenburg -Schwerin.

Life

Due to the testamentary dispositions of his father Albrecht did not get like two of his older brothers parts of his father's land, but only in a limited income from these awarded.

Without own residence Albrecht held at his in-laws in Wertheim yard and converted to the Catholic faith.

Prince Albrecht was taken by his father, who was their leader, in the Fruitbearing society. To him, the company name Vivid was awarded.

He died on May 9, 1692 33 -year-old in Leipzig and was not buried like his two daughters in the family vault of Weißenfelser Castle Church, but in Erfurt.

Marriage and issue

He completed his only marriage on June 22, 1687 in Wertheim with Christiana Theresa of Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rochefort, daughter of Count Ferdinand Karl of Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rochefort from his marriage to Anna Maria von Fürstenberg- Heiligenberg, daughter of Count Ernst Egon VIII. von Fürstenberg- Heiligenberg. After the death of Albert married his widow Prince Philipp Erasmus of Liechtenstein.

Albrecht and Christine had two daughters together:

  • Anna Christine ( born July 17, 1690 in Wertheim, † March 5, 1763 in Vienna), Princess of Saxe- Weissenfels
  • Maria Auguste ( born February 4, 1692 in Wertheim, † February 15, 1692 ibid ), Princess of Saxe- Weissenfels
