Alcazar Stadium

The Alcazar Stadium (Greek Στάδιο Αλκαζάρ ) is a sports stadium in the Greek town of Larissa. The stadium is located north of the city center and is part of the National Sports Centre in Larisa ( Ethniko athlitiko Kentro Larisa ), short EWC. The name arose from the vernacular to compare the stadium with the same name fortresses in Spain.

History

The Alcazar Stadium was built in 1965 and served the club AE Larisa until 2012 as a home ground. The publicly owned stadium, which has an athletics track with eight lanes and last renovated in the summer of 2004 on the occasion of the resurgence of the club. As part of this work, all standing room were converted into seats, thus reducing the capacity of formerly 18,000 seats to about 13,000. Furthermore, it was installed a new floodlight system, renovated the interiors as well as roofed grandstand. The Spielfelmaße the stadium be 105 m × 68 m.
