Alectryon (mythology)

Alektryon (Greek Ἀλεκτρυών, tap) is in Greek mythology, a youth who should stand before the door of the station Ares, as this permission was getting into with Aphrodite. However Alektryon fell asleep, and Helios, the sun, the two surprised the next morning. As punishment Ares transformed the Alektryon in a cock so he never forgets to announce the sunrise.
