Alejandro Goic

Alejandro Goic Karmelic ( born March 7, 1940 in Punta Arenas, Chile) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Rancagua and chairman of the Chilean Episcopal Conference.

Life

Born Alejandro Goic, the Croatian descent and whose name is writes in Croatian Goić - Karmelić, 1940 in Punta Arenas, also the capital of the Chilean Magallanes y Antártica Chilena de la, a descendant of Croatian immigrants. At twenty-six Goic Karmelic was consecrated on March 12, 1966 as a priest. Thirteen years later, on 23 April 1979 at the age of thirty-nine years, first he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Concepción, also was appointed Titular Bishop of Africa.

The bishop was ordained by John Paul II on May 27, 1979. At fifty-four years Alejandro Goic Karmelic was appointed on 27 October 1994 as Bishop of Osorno. On 10 July 2003 the appointment as coadjutor bishop for the Diocese of Rancagua occurred. Since 23 April 2004 at the age of sixty-four years, is Alejandro Goic Karmelic Bishop of Rancagua.
