The Aeropuerto Alejandro Velasco Astete is the international airport of the Peruvian city of Cusco. This is where a lot of tourists from all over the world who want to visit the famous Inca sites in the region. Most flights are available to and from Lima. As an international destination La Paz is currently offered in Bolivia. The airstrip has a very high longitudinal gradient.
Naming
The airport was named after the Peruvian pilot Alejandro Velasco Astete who crossed in 1925 as the first pilot of the Andes with an airplane.
