Aleksandar Tirnanić

Aleksandar " Tirke " Tirnanić ( born July 15, 1910 in Krnjevo in Smederevo, Kingdom of Serbia, † December 13, 1992 in Belgrade, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) was a Yugoslav football player and football coach. He played the BSK and internationally for the Yugoslav selection, which he later coached.

Life

Youth

Aleksandar Tirnanić was born in 1910 in the central Serbian village Krnjevo and came as an infant with his parents in Belgrade, the capital of the former kingdom of Serbia. The father, a metal worker, died in 1914 during the First World War.

The now by his mother alone behaved Aleksandar early discovered his love for football. He played a long time on the streets of Bara Venecija before he was taken by coach Radenko Mitrovic for youth team of SK Jugoslavia. However Tirnanić soon moved to rivals BSK, in which he developed into a talented winger. He dropped out of school after he realized that he had athletic potential, and concentrated exclusively on entirely on football.

Professional career

With 17 years Tirnanić made ​​his debut in the First Division team of the BSK. He quickly made a name as an able and spirited players and formed a midfield duo with Blagoje Marjanović.

His entire career in professional football following Tirnanić spent at BSK, where he played 500 games and five times won the Yugoslav Championship. To this end, he played 50 times for the Yugoslav national team, for whom he scored twelve gates, and took part in the World Cup 1930.

More life

After the end of his playing career was Tirnanić coach. He coached the Yugoslav national team at the World Championships in 1954 and 1958 as well as at the Olympic Games in 1948 and 1952.

He died in 1992 at the age of 82 years.
