Aleksandrs Mirskis

Aleksandrs Mirskis (Russian Александр Томасович Мирский, Alexander Tomassowitsch Mirsky, born March 20, 1964 in Vilnius) is a Latvian politician of the party russia near the center of the harmony.

Life

Mirskis completed the diploma course in civil engineering at the Polytechnic Institute in Kaunas and worked as a project manager in the construction industry from 1986 to 1989. It was followed by the military service in the Soviet army, in which he was commander of a unit for radiation detection and lieutenant colonel. After military service he returned to his old profession. He was technical director, general manager of a construction company in 1999 1992. In 2001 he moved into politics, he was until 2005 Advisor to the Mayor of Riga. In 2006 he was elected to the Saeima, where he was Group Vice- Chairman. Since 2009 he is a member of the European Parliament.
