Alessio Figalli

Figalli Alessio ( born April 2, 1984 in Rome ) is an Italian mathematician who deals with partial differential equations.

Figalli studied at the University of Pisa and the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa at Giovanni Alberti and Luigi Ambrosio with the diploma 2006. 2007 he was at Ambrosio at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and Cédric Villani at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon, PhD (optimal transportation Minimizing measures and action ). 2007/ 08 he was Chargé de recherche CNRS at the University of Nice and from 2008 professor at the Ecole Polytechnique. In 2009 he completed his habilitation (Optimal transport, Euler equations, Mather and DiPerna -Lions theories ). The end of 2009 he was an associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where he became professor in 2011.

He proved with Young- heon Kim and Robert J. McCann, the regularity of the images at the optimal transport on products of spheres. and Guido De Philippi the - regularity (see Sobolev space) of solutions of the Monge - Ampere equation.

In 2012 he was awarded the EMS price. In the eulogy of his outstanding contributions to the regularity of mappings in optimal transportation, quantitative geometric and functional inequalities and partial solutions of Mather and Mane were honored assumptions in the theory of dynamical systems.

In 2012 he held the Cours Peccot at the College de France. In 2008 he received the Giuseppe Borgia price of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and the Carlo Miranda price of the Academy of Sciences in Naples.
