Alex Lifeson

Alex Zivojinovich ( born August 27, 1953 in Fernie, British Columbia, Canada ), better known by his stage name Alex Lifeson, is a Canadian musician.

The son of Serbian immigrants from Sabac in western Serbia, grew up in Toronto, the provincial capital of Ontario and the largest city in Canada. Since Zivojinovich ( Živojinović ) roughly translates to something like " son of life" ( engl. son of life) means, Alex gained the stage name Lifeson.

Alex Lifeson plays guitar and composes together with Geddy Lee the music for the rock band Rush. For the lyrics of the band Neil Peart is responsible. Lifeson is the owner of a small company called The Omega Concern, which designs and manufactures consumer products, further he is a partner in a restaurant in Toronto, The Orbit Room, as well as licensed pilot and motorcycle mechanic.

Along with his bandmates Geddy Lee and Neil Peart, Lifeson was appointed on 9 May 1996 an Officer of the Order of Canada (OC ).
