Alex Lifeson
Alex Zivojinovich ( born August 27, 1953 in Fernie, British Columbia, Canada ), better known by his stage name Alex Lifeson, is a Canadian musician.
The son of Serbian immigrants from Sabac in western Serbia, grew up in Toronto, the provincial capital of Ontario and the largest city in Canada. Since Zivojinovich ( Živojinović ) roughly translates to something like " son of life" ( engl. son of life) means, Alex gained the stage name Lifeson.
Alex Lifeson plays guitar and composes together with Geddy Lee the music for the rock band Rush. For the lyrics of the band Neil Peart is responsible. Lifeson is the owner of a small company called The Omega Concern, which designs and manufactures consumer products, further he is a partner in a restaurant in Toronto, The Orbit Room, as well as licensed pilot and motorcycle mechanic.
Along with his bandmates Geddy Lee and Neil Peart, Lifeson was appointed on 9 May 1996 an Officer of the Order of Canada (OC ). Rush were also the first musician in Canada at all, who were honored with this award. At the beginning of the same year also appeared Lifeson 's first and only solo album - Victor.
In 2000, Lifeson contributed the title March of the High Guard in the first season of the television series Andromeda.
2003 Alex had a guest role in the Canadian comedy television series Trailer Park Boys. On 25 June 2010, Alex Lifeson and his Rush bandmates Geddy Lee and Neil Peart, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Almost three years later, on April 18, 2013, Rush were eventually incorporated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
