Alex Thomson (sailor)

Alex Thomson ( born April 18, 1974 in Bangor, Wales ) is a British sailor., Thomson regularly takes part in regattas. In the years 2008, 2004 and 2012, he took part in the Vendée Globe, in 2006 at the Velux 5 Oceans, 2007 at the Rolex Fastnet Race and 2008 in the Barcelona World Race.

Three weeks before taking part in the Vendée Globe 2008 collided Thomson's Hugo Boss yacht with a French fishing boat and was doing badly damaged. After repairs, the yacht was ready to start again. Three days after the launch had to Thomson announce his task as water penetrated into his Open 60.
