Alexander Goldenweiser (composer)

Alexander Borisovich Gold Weiser (Russian Александр Борисович Гольденвейзер, scientific transliteration Aleksandr Borisovic Gol'denvejzer; * 26 Februarjul / March 10 1875greg in Chisinau, .. † November 26, 1961 in Moscow) was a Russian composer and pianist.

Gold Weiser studied at the Moscow Conservatory piano with Alexander Siloti and Pavel Pabst and composition with Sergei Taneyev, Anton Arensky and Mikhail Ippolitov -Ivanov. Since 1904 he was a professor at the School of the Philharmonic Society. Since 1906 he also taught at the Conservatory, which he headed 1922-1924, and 1939 and 1942.

He composed three operas, two orchestral suites, a Dante Overture, a revolution cantata, a string quartet, a piano trio, a piano sonata and Fugues for Piano.
