Life

His parents were Maximilian Alexander Just ( born June 22, 1845 in Malbork ), and Elisabeth Dorothea Sophie Hoyerman. His uncle, the chemist Eduard Just had a photo paper factory in Vienna. The Kaufmann family moved in 1882 to Vienna, where Alexander was enrolled two years later at Mariahilf High School. In 1892 he began his studies at the University of Vienna and heard chemistry, physics, philosophy, mathematics and mineralogy. At the suggestion of his uncle, he began in 1894 with his dissertation and two years later he was awarded a doctorate. He worked as an assistant at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the Technical University of Vienna.

In 1900 he married Anna Maria Elisabeth Nozsicska, with whom he had four sons and one daughter. At first, the family lived in poverty in Gumpendorferstrasse.

At the Institute, he met Franjo Hanaman, with whom he developed a method for producing Wolframglühdrähten, on which they received a patent in April 1903. Two light bulbs, which were tested at the Department of Electrical Engineering, proved with 1 W / HK as economically. They were referred to Siemens & Halske, where, however, had just begun the development of the tantalum lamp, so that the negotiations were unsuccessful. They gained the attention of Richard English and Jozsef Pinter (uncle of Nicholas Kurti ).

As Hanaman 1904 went as a cement chemist after Lédecz, attracted justs to Wroclaw, where Alexander work at Egyesült Villamossági ( from 1909 Tungsram ) found.

Newspaper reports of 1916 that he has a self-regenerating dry battery had invented from atmospheric oxygen, proved to be a duck.

During the First World War he served as a medic and was discharged as an ensign of the reserve. In 1919 he received Hungarian citizenship.
