Alexander Meyer

Alexander Meyer ( * October 19, 1983 in Jülich ) is a former German football player.

Career

The defender started his career in Titz - Rödingen ( near Aachen ). Then he moved to Germania Teveren and then the amateurs of Bayer 04 Leverkusen. He was nominated for the U19 national team in 2002 and celebrated at the European Championships in Norway great success, where he was voted player of the tournament.

In the 2003 /04 season he was appointed to the first team of Bayer Leverkusen, where success though initially not forthcoming. Throughout the season, he had almost no match practice under the former coach Klaus Augenthaler. Therefore, he was loaned to the start of the 2004/05 season for two years at the MSV Duisburg, where he soon was part of the starting eleven. With the club Alexander Meyer was promoted to the Bundesliga, where he was one of the permanent employees of the MSV in the Bundesliga season 2005/06. Due to his good performances Bayer Leverkusen decided to sign him again.

In the season 2006/ 07 Meyer was not a single game for the first team Leverkusen deny plagued him since a long-term injury. For the season 2007/ 08 he returned free transfer back to MSV Duisburg, but there was also not a single Bundesliga use. In 2010 he had to end his career.
