Alexander of Telese

Alexander of Telese; was abbot of the Benedictine monastery of San Salvatore in Telese and author of a biography of Roger II of Sicily ( * end of the 11th century † before 1143 ).

His chronicle, divided into four books, reports mainly on the history of the years 1127-1135, however, is not completely preserved. Whether a sequel was planned to 1140 in order to describe the completion of the reforms Rogers may, therefore can not be determined with certainty. He has had several meetings with Roger, the inspiration for his work received from Alexander the Countess Matilda of Alife, a sister of the king. The Sicilian kingdom he leads all the way back to independent roots, he does not mention the role of the Pope Anacletus II. The political conception Rogers and his followers, he describes in dream narratives, the history of events, it provides many pieces of information. At the beginning of the fourth book, he describes the bureaucratic tendencies Rogers.
