Alexander Roche, Baron Roche

Alexander Adair Roche, Baron Roche, of Chadlington in the County of Oxford PC KC ( * July 24, 1871; † 22 December 1956) was a British lawyer who most recently as Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, due to the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876 as Life peer also was a member of the House of Lords.

Life

Lawyer and judge

After visiting the Ipswich School Roche holds a degree in Law at Wadham College, University of Oxford in 1896 and received his legal approval to the Chamber of Lawyers ( Inns of Court ) of the Inner Temple. He then began working as a barrister and was (King 's Counsel ) appointed for his lawyer's services in 1912 for Attorney-General. After working as a legal advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Trade 1914-1917, he was in 1917 so-called " Bencher " of the Bar of the Inner Temple.

1917 Roche judge from the Chamber of Civil Cases ( King's Bench Division ) to the Commissioner for England and Wales High Court of Justice, and held this office of judge until 1934. At the same time he was beaten in 1917 Knight Bachelor and led since then the additional name "Sir". During this time, he was from 1919 to 1920 Chairman of the Komiteeds for casual work in the Port of London as well as 1932-1947 Chairman of the quarter court ( Court of Quarter Sessions ) of Oxfordshire.

After completion of the judges work at High Court of Justice in 1934 was his appeal to the judge ( Lord Justice of Appeal ) at the Court of Appeal, which is responsible for England and Wales Court of Appeal, where he worked until 1935. In addition, he was appointed to the Privy Councillor in 1935 also.

Lord Justice and the House of Lords member

By Letters Patent of October 14, 1935 Roche was appointed because of the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876 as a Life peer with the title Baron Roche, of Chadlington in the County of Oxford, a member of the House of Lords to the nobility and worked until first his resignation on January 5, 1938 as Lord Justice (Lord of Appeal in Ordinary).

Zuletz was Lord Roche, the 1939 was also treasurer of the Bar of the Inner Temple, 1940-1943 Chairman of the Authority for wages in agriculture (Agricultural Wages Board ).
