Alexander Yakushev

Alexander Sergeyevich Yakushev (Russian Александр Сергеевич Якушев; born January 2, 1947 in Balaschicha, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player

The North American hockey fans, he has remained mainly as a prominent player in the Summit Series in 1972 in memory. While he stood in the shadow of towering teammate Valeri Kharlamov, he could still until the end of the series on 7 goals, 4 assists ( 11 points ) position. At the Olympic Games in 1972 and 1976, he could reach the gold medal with the Soviet national ice hockey team.

After he retired from active hockey, he coached Spartak Moscow. In 2003 he was honored with induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame. As early as 1970 he was accepted into the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame.
