Alexander Zick
Alexander Zick ( * 1845 in Koblenz, † November 10, 1907 in Berlin) was a German illustrator and painter.
Alexander Zick is a great-grandson of the painter Januarius Zick. He studied at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf, first in August Wittig sculpture and then at Edward Bendemann painting.
Through acquaintance with Ludwig Knaus zig went in 1880 to Berlin. Although still active as a genre and history painter, he was soon known mainly as an illustrator. He made drawings among other things, fairy tales, families and youth magazines such as The Gazebo, but also for general literature such as for an edition of Goethe's Faust.
Numismatic work
Towards the end of his life was Alexander Zick the designer of two German banknotes, the 5 Mark Reich Kassenschein 1904 and the 10 Mark Reich Kassenschein 1906.
