Alexandra Shevchenko

Alexandra Shevchenko (Ukrainian Олександра Шевченко; born April 24, 1988 in Khmelnytskyi, Ukrainian SSR ) is a prominent activist of the Ukrainian feminist group FEMEN.

Shevchenko grew up as an only child of a professional soldier and a teacher in Khmelnitsky and studied economics there. With Hanna Huzol and Oksana Schatschko it belonged in 2008 to the founders of FEMEN. In 2012 she was living as a business student with two other student activists in a shared apartment in Kiev. Since the middle of the same year Shevchenko works full-time for FEMEN. 2013, it was involved in the construction of the FEMEN group in Berlin, where she lived temporarily. She was involved in many activities of the organization, including in February 2013 at the Berlin International Film Festival and in April 2013 at the Hanover Fair in the presence of Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel.

Together with other activists of FEMEN left Shevchenko " in fear for their lives and freedom " in August 2013, the Ukraine and has since lived in Paris.
