Alexandre Bilodeau

Alexandre Bilodeau ( born September 8, 1987 in Montreal ) is a Canadian freestyle skier. He specializes in the disciplines of moguls and dual moguls ( moguls ) and is one of the world's most successful athletes. Both in 2010 and in 2014 he won at the Olympic Winter Games gold medal in the moguls discipline, three times in a row he was dual moguls world champion. In addition, the gain of the moguls discipline standings and the standings in the 2008 /09 season and two more World Championship medals.

Biography

Bilodeau was also an excellent Aerials Springer in his youth. As a 14 -year-old he was the youngest athlete ever to the managed a triple somersault. After he was taken in the Canadian junior team in 2004, he focused on the Moguls disciplines. In 2005 he was the first to moguls driver ever in a competition a double screw.

On 14 December 2005 Bilodeau took part in the World Cup for the first time in Tignes and was immediately eleventh. During its premiere season 2005/ 06 he won twice and was the youngest winner of a World Cup moguls petition. With five World Cup victories ( including four in a row in February 2009 ) and three second places, he secured both the superior discipline rating as well as the overall standings. In addition, he won the gold medal in the discipline dual moguls at the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro. After he had been three times on the podium in the 2009/10 season, he won the gold medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and let the favored Australian Dale Begg -Smith behind. This was the first victory of a Canadian at the Olympic Games in their own country.

In the 2010/11 season Bilodeau won in four competitions and was second twice and third once. At the 2011 World Championships in Deer Valley, he defended his world title in Dual Moguls, he also won the silver medal in the moguls competition. Due to injury, he was a late start in the season 2011/ 12, but still scored a podium finish. In the winter of 2012/13 he scored nine podium finishes, including four wins. At the World Cup 2013 in Voss, he won the dual moguls gold medal, making him the first male freestylers ever, one behind the other in the same discipline became world champion three times; added was the silver medal in the moguls competition.

Bilodeau started the World Cup season 2013/14 with three second places in a row, one behind Mikaël Kingsbury. In January 2014 he scored three successive World Cup victories, which he scored at the Olympic Winter Games 2014 the most cited favorite for the gold medal. In Sochi, he lived up to expectations and repeated his Olympic victory.
