Alexandro Alves do Nascimento

Alex Alves (real name Alexandro Alves do Nascimento, born December 30, 1974 in Campo Formoso, † November 14, 2012 in Jaú ) was a Brazilian football player.

Life

Alex Alves began his career in 1993 with the EC Vitória Bahia in northeastern Brazil. From 1994 to 1995 he played for Palmeiras and São Paulo in 1996 for EC Juventude Portuguesa. He then moved to Cruzeiro.

In 1999, Alves for a transfer fee of about 15.2 million marks to Hertha BSC, where he never really took hold. With a 52-meter -wide long-range shot from the center circle Alves managed for Hertha BSC in 2000, the goal of the year. Despite some successful games he came especially because of his repeated antics in the headlines. Repeats the police stopped him while driving without a valid driver's license. In 2005 he played again for the EC Vitória. In January 2007, he joined Boavista SC from Saquarema in the state of Rio de Janeiro. From June 2007, Alves remained first again in Germany, where he stayed fit at second division Alemannia Aachen. In February 2008 he went to Fortaleza EC in the Brazilian state of Ceará. There it held him back but not for long. In March 2008, Alves decided to go back to Europe, this time to the Greek second division club AO Kavala. After 2008, a leukemia he was diagnosed with, he ended his career after the 2008 /09 season. In 2010 he again celebrated a return at União Rondonópolis in the Campeonato Mato Gros - Sense de Futebol, but where he had to end his career due to his final illness.

Alves had not initially have the necessary financial means for a stem cell transplant and had unsuccessfully undergone chemotherapy. Only in October 2012, a bone marrow transplant took place, the donor was one of his brothers. On November 14, 2012 Alves died at the age of 37 paroxysmal from the effects of rare bone marrow disease nocturnal hemoglobinuria. The initial presumption of leukemia was not confirmed. He left behind a daughter from a divorced marriage.
