Alexey Gordeyev

Alexei Gordeev Vasilyevich (Russian: Алексей Васильевич Гордеев; born February 28, 1955 in Frankfurt ( Oder) ) is a Russian politician. He was from 1999 to 2009 Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and has since March 12, 2009 Governor of Voronezh Oblast.

Gordeev was born in Frankfurt (Oder) in East Germany and grew up in Magadan. From 1973 to 1978 he studied successfully at the Moscow Institute for Railway Engineering ( институт инженеров железнодорожного транспорта ). After his studies and military service, he worked from 1980 as a senior foreman at the Russian construction company Glavmosstroy ( Главмосстрой ). From 1981 to 1986 he worked as a senior specialist, Head of Department and then as deputy head of the Russian SFSR Glavsnaba Minplodoovoschhoza ( Главснаба Минплодоовощхоза РСФСР ). In 1986 he became deputy director for production and distribution of packaging at Gosagroprom the RSFSR ( Госагропром РСФСР ) and Deputy Director General in the same year of the Industrial Agricultural Combine "Moscow" ( Агропромышленный комбинат « Москва » ). In 1992 he graduated from the Moscow Academy of Economic Ministers of the USSR ( Академия народного хозяйства ( АНХ ) при Совете Министров СССР ) and became managing director of Rajons Ljuberzy in the Moscow Oblast. From 1997 he was Head of the Department of Economics and a member of the Collegium of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Russian Federation. In May 1998, he was First Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Food. In early 1999 Gordeev was elected deputy chairman of the Agrarian Party, Mikhail Lapshin below.

Gordeev was on 19 August 1999 Minister for Agriculture and Food of the Russian Federation in the Putin government. In May 2002 he was also appointed Chairman of the Russian agrarian movement ( Rossijskoje agrarnoje dwischenije RAD) that is loyal unlike the KPRF the ruling United Russia party opposite.

On 16 February 2009 Gordeev was nominated by the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev for the post of Governor of the Voronezh Oblast. On 26 February, he was confirmed by the local parliament. His inauguration took place on March 12.
