Alférez (rank)

Alférez ( from Arabic. Faris al - = the standard bearer ) is a military officer cadet or officer rank in the Spanish army and the armed forces of other Spanish-speaking countries and corresponds to the German depending on a midshipman or lieutenant.

In Spain and Peru also exists in the Navy of the rank Alférez de Fragata, corresponding to a Midshipman.
