Alfons Gorbach

Alfons Gorbach ( born September 2, 1898 in Imst, Tirol, † 31 July 1972 in Graz, Styria ) was ÖVP politician and Chancellor of Austria from 1961 to 1964.

Life

Alfons Gorbach took in the First World War in October 1917 in the fighting in Flitscher basin part and lost there with an offensive one leg. Already in the first Republic, he was politically active. 1929 to 1932 he was a councilor in Graz From 1937 to 1938 he was Styrian Provincial Government. After connecting Gorbach came first ( the so-called celebrities transport) to Dachau and 1944 in the Flossenbiirg, where he remained until the war ended.

Already in the first elected National 1945, he was the third National President, a second time 1956 until 1961.
