Alfred Dunhill Championship

The Alfred Dunhill Championship is a professional golf tournament for men, which will be played in South Africa. It is part of the Sunshine Tour and is one of four events in South Africa, which will be held in conjunction with the European Tour.

The tournament was set up in 2000, its origins lie with, sponsored by Dunhill between 1995 and 1999 South African PGA Championship. After 1999, the Alfred Dunhill PGA Championship followed, the company decided his participation in the South African PGA to interrupt and to create a private tournament. The first event was held in January 2000 at the Houghton Golf Club, Johannesburg, replacing the South African PGA Championship on the European Tour calendar.

2004 transferred to the tournament in the month of December, so that two events took place that year. After this change, the Alfred Dunhill Championship belonged to the European Tour season of the following year. In addition, we moved to Leopard Creek Golf Club south of the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga over.

The Dunhill Championship should not be confused with the Dunhill Links Championship, which is also part of the European Tour, but is equipped with a much higher prize money and will be played in Scotland.
