Alfred Dunlop

Alfred Wallace " Alf" Dunlop ( born January 12, 1875 in Christchurch, New Zealand, † April 7, 1933 in Melbourne) was an Australian tennis player.

Life

Dunlop took from 1897 at Tennis tournaments in Australia in part. In 1905 he made ​​his first appearance at the Wimbledon Championships on, but already lost their opening match against Anthony Wilding. In the same year he won the championship of Northumberland. In the first edition of the Australian Championships in November 1905, he reached the semifinals. Three years later, he lost the final of the Australian Championships Fred Alexander in five sets. In doubles, he won at the side of Alexander in this year's title and thus the greatest success of his career. In the years 1905 and 1912 he was in the Davis Cup against Britain and the U.S. for use. By 1914, he played regularly in tournaments in Australia and Europe. Most recently, he appeared in 1919 in a double at the Australian championships, but already retired on the first lap.

He died at the age of 58 years in 1933 in Kew, Melbourne.
