Alfred Letourneur

Alfred Letourneur ( born July 25, 1907 in Amiens, † January 31, 1975 in New York ) was a French cyclist.

Alfred Letourneur was a professional racing car driver 1928 until 1942. Early as 1927, he won jointly Georges Rouyer rail competition Prix Dupré - Lapize in Paris. In the early 1930s he moved to the United States to start there and in Canada in 73 six-day races. He won 21 times, including four times together with Marcel Guimbretiere and nine times with Gerard Debaets. He also won four American masters of the uprights.

Twice presented Letourneur speed records on the wheel on: October 22, 1938, he reached behind a pacer motorcycle on the velodrome of Montlhery 147.058 km / h, and on 17 May 1941, he was riding a Schwinn bike on the highway at Bakersfield 175 km / h behind a car as a pacemaker.
