Alfred Maria Willner

Alfred Maria Willner ( born July 11, 1859 in Vienna, † October 27, 1929 in Vienna) was an Austrian journalist, composer and librettist.

Life

Alfred Maria Willner studied law at the University of Vienna, where he also received his doctorate. He first worked as a feature writer for newspapers, founded mainly for 1869 by Viktor Silberer Vienna Salonblatt. He also worked as Ballet Composer of the Vienna Court Opera, and later worked as a librettist. He was one of the most important librettists of the so-called silver age of operetta.

According to the contract commitment to him, Alexandrine of Schönerer and others, created by Johann Strauss ( son ) the operetta The goddess of reason. It was premiered at Vienna on March 13, 1897 at the theater.

His tomb is located in Urnenhain the fire hall Simmering (Department of MR, Group 164, No. 3).
