Alfred Twardecki

Alfred Twardecki ( born February 4, 1962 in Warsaw, PhD ) is a Polish historian and epigraphists.

He is the son of Alojzy and Jolanta Twardecki. He attended the Warsaw Antonii - Dobiszewski High School, from which he graduated with the Abitur. He then studied at the University of Warsaw History and graduated in 1986 from a master's degree. From 1986 he worked at his university in the Department of Ancient History at the Institute of History. Since 1991 he works in the "Collection of Ancient Art " of the National Museum in Warsaw, first as assistant, then as an adjunct and for some years as a curator. Since 1994 he is head of the scientific program for the cooperation of the National Museum in Warsaw with the museum in Kerch (Ukraine, Crimea). He is also a director of the archaeological project Tyritake the National Museum Warsaw since 2008. Since 1 February 2012, he has been the curator of the collection of ancient and Eastern Christian art to the National Museum in Warsaw.

Twardecki was a DAAD scholarship.

He is the author of several books and several articles in both professional as well as in popular magazines, all of which deal with the ancient Greek history. He also translated texts from the ancient Greek and English into Polish.

He is married and has two children.
