Alice Krige

Alice Maud Krige ( born June 28, 1954 in Upington, South Africa) is a South African living in the UK actress who is best known for roles in science fiction and fantasy films. Most popular is her portrayal of the Borg Queen in Star Trek.

Life and career

As the daughter of German immigrants Krige grew up in South Africa. Originally she studied Psychology at Rhodes University, South Africa, and came up by chance with acting in touch. After visiting a drama course at Rhodes University, she decided to study at London's Central School of Speech and Drama drama.

In 1979, Krige her television debut in a television adaptation of Charles Dickens The two cities, many other theater and television roles in the UK and the U.S. followed.

In Star Trek: First Contact (1996 ) she plays the Borg Queen. This role makes it very well known in the science fiction fan community, they embodied again in the video game Star Trek: Armada II and in the Voyager series finale final. The following are important supporting roles in miniseries such as Dinotopia and Dune - Children of Dune and movies like Reign of Fire and Attila - The Hun ( historical film about Attila ).

Krige is married to writer and director Paul Schoolman.
