Alice Waters

Alice Louise Waters ( born April 28, 1944 in Chatham, New Jersey) is an American restaurateur and co-owner of the California Restaurants Chez Panisse in Berkeley, which is considered the birthplace of the California Cuisine. You also heard the more informal Café Fanny in West Berkeley. Alice Waters calls for consistent use of fresh ingredients that are sourced locally. Together with Jeremiah Tower, who was from 1972 to 1978 head chef at Chez Panisse, they justified this trend. She has written alone and together with other several books that deal with this topic. These include the Chez Panisse Cooking cookbook, which she co-authored with the former chef of Chez Panisse, Paul Bertolli. Today she calls especially better nutrition education for children. Within this framework she has called in Berkeley to life the Edible Schoolyard program. Your ideas for a drawing eaters are now followed by all schools in the California area of Berkeley. In the U.S. public, they are met with great interest. Alice Waters is comprised primarily committed to use only foods that are grown in the region. In their view, the long-range transport of massenpoduzierten food is harmful for the environment and leads to lower quality products for the consumer.
