Alitalia Express is an Italian regional airline based in Rome and a subsidiary of Alitalia.

History

Alitalia Express started its operations as a successor to the Avianova, was involved in the Alitalia on October 1, 1997.

In March 2003 it was announced that Alitalia, considering pulled the acquisition of Minerva Airlines, which ceased flight operations in order to outsource the complete fleet of turboprop aircraft of Alitalia Express. This assumption, however, was not completed in September 2004 and Alitalia were instead known twelve Embraer to order 170 for Alitalia Express.

As part of the restructuring of Alitalia all Embraer ERJ- 145 and ATR were 72 sold from late 2008, so that the fleet of Alitalia Express drastically reduced from 30 to 6 machines.

Under the new operating company CAI was finally begun in autumn 2011, the remaining six Embraer 170 to be transferred without compensation to the French Régional. At the same time the sister company Alitalia City liner was equipped with a new and larger fleet. To obtain the operating license and the slots in Milan, the parent company, however, transferred pursuant to phasing out all aircraft of Alitalia Express an Airbus A320 -200 on this.

Objectives

Alitalia Express currently operated in the route network of mainly Alitalia from Milan next flights to several domestic destinations such as Naples and Palermo also some European destinations such as Brussels and Barcelona.
