Aljoša Asanović [ aʎɔʃa asa nɔʋitɕ ː ] ( born December 14, 1965 in Split, SFR Yugoslavia, now Croatia ) is a former Croatian football player who is assistant coach of the Croatian national team today.

Career

In Europe, the success of Aljoša Asanović hold quite limited. Nevertheless, the extremely talented midfielder was one of the main pillars of the golden Croatian national team of 1994 to 1998. Croatia For he played 62 international matches and scored three goals. His debut for the Croatian national team, he was on 17 October 1990 against the USA (2-1). It was Croatia's first international match in the " footballing modern era " of the country and Asanović even scored the first goal for Croatia. Career highlight was reaching the third place in the 98 World Cup with Croatia. His last game for the national team, he made 28 May 2000, in a friendly match against France. His club career, he ended 2002 at his home club Hajduk Split.
