All Japan Pro Wrestling

All Japan Pro Wrestling (Japanese全日本 プロ·レスリング 株式会社, Zennihon Pro Wrestling Kabushiki Kaisha, short AJPW ), is the name of a Japanese Wrestling Association. AJPW was founded in 1972 by Shohei Baba.

The promotion is one to the so-called Puroresu leagues and the short name is All Japan.

History

In 1972 left the wrestler Shohei Baba league Japanese Wrestling Association. Since his former training partner Antonio Inoki had a few months previously constructed with New Japan Pro Wrestling own Wrestliga, Baba also created a separate promotion, Pro Wrestling was named the All Japan and represented a merger of several regional leagues.

Shohei Baba was able to negotiate a television contract with Nippon TV, who received 15 % shares in AJPW. All Japan Pro Wrestling released the Japanese Wrestling Association from the National Wrestling Alliance. Therefore, in the AJPW also American wrestler could occur and defend their titles there. In the late 1980s working with the NWA was stopped and the AJPW began to unite their individual titles and to work with a squad fixed.

After the death of Baba, in January 1999, took over the wrestler Mitsuharu Misawa the management of AJPW. In May 2000, however, this was voted out by the board. Baba's widow Motoko Baba, said he and other wrestlers, the positions in the management clothed, public distrust of her. This meant that Misawa and 24 other wrestlers in June 2000 left the organization and the independent promotion Pro Wrestling NOAH founded.

The existing television contract was finally terminated by Nippon TV. However, their share of participation remained and prevented AJPW received a transmission place at a different station.

To continue to stay present, you worked until January 2002 along with New Japan Pro Wrestling and organized joint shows. Shortly thereafter moved firmly to the Japanese superstar Keji Mutoh to All Japan Pro Wrestling and was elected in September of the year as President of the organization. Mutoh managed, All Japan Pro Wrestling both New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling NOAH to approach so that meanwhile frequently and then cross- matches and shows take place.

Tournaments

AJPW organizes several tournaments whose winners are determined by storylines. The winners will be in a title match compete in their respective division. Often, these tournaments are also used by a wrestler or tag team to bring over.
