All People's Republican Party

The All People's Republican Party ( APRP ) was a political party in Ghana.

It was founded in 1969 as part of the democratization process during the military rule of the National Liberation Council, on the occasion of the taking place on August 29, 1969 the first elections in the second Ghanaian Republic.

History

The APRP reached a total of 140 seats of the National Assembly ( National Assembley ) or about 1.8 percent of the votes in the elections in 1969. About her role in the National Assembly, the APRP exercised an influence of an opposition party to the government under Prime Minister Kofi Busia Abrefa. The Busia government was replaced on January 13, 1972 by the second military coup in Ghana by Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong.

Acheampong suspended the Constitution of Ghana and issued a general prohibition party, which also houses the APRP had to bow. The APRP was disbanded in January 1972.
