All the Road Running (English for: "The whole road race '' ' ) is a studio album by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris, which was published in 2006. As the pieces Singles This Is Us and Beachcombing from the album were released. The title track of the album, All The Roadrunning, was previously the end of 2005 on the album Private Investigations: The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler was released.
Formation
The first meeting between Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris was part of TV work, as a show was produced in honor of Chet Atkins, with both Knopfler and Harris had music together. Comparing music for a tribute album to Hank Williams, Harris and Knopfler met one more time. This is where the idea of a joint album to have originated. However, due to scheduling difficulties, they were rarely able to work together on this album. Therefore, it took seven years until the recording was completed.
Musician
Mark Knopfler is listen to all recordings of the album on guitar. On two pieces ( Rollin 'On and Belle Starr ) plays Emmylou Harris additionally acoustic guitar. The other musicians on the album ( Richard Bennet, Jim Cox, Guy Fletcher, Chad Cromwell, Danny Cummings, Glenn Worf and Glen Duncan ) is essentially Mark Knopfler's backing band at the time of the recordings. The interim reshuffle of the band ( in Shangri- La ( 2003) played Chad Cromwell drums, Kill to Get Crimson on (2007) Danny Cummings ) led to two drummers were involved.
Other musicians who were involved in individual pieces include Jim Horn and the Memphis Horns ( Brass ), Paul Franklin ( steel guitar ), Dan Dugmore ( guitar ), Steve Conn (accordion), Stuart Duncan (fiddle ) and Billy Ware ( Triangle ).
