Allan Houston

Allan Wade Houston ( born April 20, 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky ) is a retired American professional basketball player. He played shooting guard for the Detroit Pistons and the New York Knicks in the NBA. In 2000 he became Olympic champion with the national basketball team of the United States.

College

Houston played at Ballard High School in Louisville, where she won the 1988 Kentucky State Championship. He later played at the University of Tennessee, where his father was the team coach.

NBA

Houston was drafted at # 11 out of the Detroit Pistons in 1993.

After 1996 his rookie contract had expired at Detroit Pistons, he went as a free agent with the New York Knicks. With the Knicks Houston reached the 1999 NBA Finals, but lost the Knicks against the San Antonio Spurs. In the years 2000 and 2001, he was appointed to the All-Star team.

Houston finished his NBA career in 2005 due to a knee injury. 2007 Allan Houston wanted but again a comeback, his attempts failed.

In his 13-year NBA career, Houston has received more than 117.5 million U.S. dollars in salary payments and thus one of the best paid players of his playing days.
