Allgäu Comets

The Allgäu Comets (until 1993 Kempten Comets ) are an American football team from Kempten ( Allgäu) in Bavaria. The Comets played in the 2012 and 2013 season in the second German league, the GFL 2 At the end of the 2013 season was achieved promotion to the Bundesliga 1, the GFL.

History

In 1982, the Football Association Allgäu Comets by former teacher Erich Gray was established from Ansbach. At the start, some athletes met twice a week to under the guidance of the first coach Mike Romans to exercise.

The club plays in the Illerstadion Kempten. A natural grass pitch with a seating capacity of 4,500. Honors

2011, 2012 and 2013, the Allgäu Comets have won three times in a row as Team of the Year by the city of Kempten (Allgäu ). Also in 2012 the Allgäu Comets were awarded to the club of the year by the American Football Association of Germany.

Youth Team

Since the mid- 1980s, the Comets run a successful youth work. At that time in 1st Bundesliga youth work was one of the conditions to obtain the license for the Bundesliga. The greatest success of the youth in this period was 1989, the German vice-championship. In the game in Nuremberg, the young Comets were subject only just the team from the Berlin Adler. In the following years, some titles could be celebrated on Bavarian level.
