Allgemeiner deutscher Musikverein

The General German music club ( ADMV ) was founded in 1861 by Louis Köhler, Franz Brendel, Franz Liszt and others. He made it his mission to perform mainly newer Tonwerke and to be the a certain extent for the living composers, which were exhibitions of paintings for the living painter. 1937 ADMV was disbanded by the Nazis.

History

1859 a first meeting was held under Musicians munificence of the Prince of Hohenzollern- Hechingen Konstantin occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik in Leipzig. During the second meeting of Musicians ( 4 to 8 August 1861) in the statutes of the Weimar ADMV were adopted (meeting on August 7 ), the club was founded it. The New Journal of Music became the organ of the association. At the end of the 19th century ADMV was under the patronage of the Grand Duke of Weimar.

The General German music club has a number of large Musicians meetings held so notably 1861 ( Weimar), 1864 (Karlsruhe), 1865 (Dessau ), 1867 ( Meiningen ), 1868 ( Altenburg ), 1870 ( Weimar), 1878 ( Erfurt), 1880 ( Baden- Baden), 1881 ( Magdeburg ) and 1883 ( Leipzig). When connected with the Assembly 42 Tonkünstlerfest Gustav Mahler conducted on May 27, 1906, the premiere of his Symphony No. 6 in Essen hall building.

The Allgemeiner Deutscher Musikverein of preferably represented direction was oriented to Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner New German School. Most following the Annual General Meetings of the Association of Musikertag held its meetings, whose efforts were more focused on the external interests of the orchestra musicians, music teachers, etc..

Beginning of the 20th century was the membership fee per year 6 marks.

The pressure of interesting pieces of music was regularly given by Breitkopf & Härtel in order.

Under the Nazis, the resolution was arranged after Peter Raabe, who is also chairman of the Reich Music Chamber was at the same time, had assumed the presidency in 1937. Under Nazi flag, the so-called Reich Music Days were held in the following year.

The club archive ( files and letters ) is preserved in the Goethe and Schiller Archives, Weimar since 1987. The club library and music collection are in the university archive / Thuringian State Archive Music Weimar (HSA / ThLMA ) the Academy of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar.
