Alliance for Democracy (Nigeria)

The Alliance for Democracy (AD) (Alliance for Democracy ) is a progressively oriented political party in Nigeria.

Political orientation

The official aim of the party is to further liberalize Nigeria.

Despite its claim to represent the entire Nigerian society and the fact that its current chairman, Ahmed Abdulkadir, comes from the north of the country, the AD which affects the interests of the Yoruba ethnic group in the southwest of the country is often regarded as a party, represents. In fact, AD is based ideologically on the principles of Afenifere, a socio-cultural organization of the Yoruba, which exerts a significant influence on politicians of various political groups within Nigeria. History

On September 9, 1998, the Southern Leader's Forum (SLF ) completed an umbrella organization of 18 südnigerianischen political organizations, with the United Democratic Congress ( UDC), a northern Nigerian organization, and the United Party for National Salvation to this new, state-wide alliance together, with the aim of promoting the democratization and liberalization of the Nigerian society after the end of the military dictatorship.
