Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction

The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC ) ( German Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction ) is an authoritarian political party in Gambia. The motto of the party is: English " Unity, Self Reliance, Progress" = "unity, independence, progress."

History

It was founded by the officers who had been involved in the military coup in 1994, 1996. It was formed to support the army leader Yahya Jammeh in the election campaign for the 1996 election to the presidency.

Jammeh won the presidential election of 18 October 2001 with 53.0 percent of the vote. In the last parliamentary elections for the National Assembly on 17 January 2002, the party 45 33 of them won 48 seats, without resistance. The elections were boycotted by the opposition United Democratic Party.
