Ally McCoist

Alistair "Ally " Murdoch McCoist, MBE (* September 24, 1962 in Bellshill ) is a Scottish former international footballer ( striker ) and current coach.

Career

McCoist began his professional career in the 1980/81 season at FC St. Johnstone with 22 goals in 38 league games, after which various clubs were his attention and finally the English AFC Sunderland signed him. But after a rather unsuccessful Intermezzo ( eight goals in 56 games ), he returned in 1983 returned to Scotland and joined Rangers.

Here he experienced his best time in ten league titles and one cup win as one of the best strikers in Scotland. 1992 McCoist was voted Scotland's Player of the Year. Even today, he is the top scorer with 251 goals in 418 Rangers games (all competitions) and Scotland's fifth- best with 19 goals in 61 missions ( inter alia World Cups in 1986 and 1990). Then he let his career at FC Kilmarnock finish.

2004 McCoist was part of the coaching staff of the new Scottish national coach Walter Smith. With him, he moved in 2007 to its function as an assistant coach for the Rangers. Since 2011 he has been head coach.

McCoist is a member of the Scotland Football Hall of Fame.
