Allyn River

Allyn River in the subtropical rainforest

The Allyn River is a river in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales. It rises below the Careys Peak in the Barrington Tops National Park. From there, it flows south and empties in Vacy in the Paterson River.

On its course crosses the Allyn River Gondwana Rainforest with large Antarctic Book ( Nothofagus moorei ) and below some lower subtropical rainforest with Red Cedar ( Toona cilata ) and small-leaved fig trees (Ficus obliqua ). Some of river oak ( Casuarina cunninghamiana ) are about 50 m high. Since the 1820s logging takes place in this area.
