Almașu Mare

Almasu Mare (German wholesale fruit village, Hungarian Nagyalmás ) is a town in Alba County, Transylvania, Romania.

Location

The village consists of seven villages with a total of about 1500 inhabitants and is situated on the southern edge of the Apuseni Mountains ( Apuseni rum.Munţii ). The nearest town is 15 Zlatna and the county capital Alba Iulia 52 kilometers from Almasu Mare. The belonging to the municipality of villages are situated on a height 600-1200 m and cover an area of ​​8930 hectares.

History

Since Roman times, takes place in the region ore mining. The town was first mentioned in 1407, however, under the name Possesia Alma.

Attractions

  • The Village Museum of the village was founded by Achim Emilian and whose name it bears. It includes a collection of over 4000 exhibits.
  • The churches Buna Vestire (before 1418 ) and Schimbarea La Fata (1822 ); a farm, a wooden house and a barn - polygon ( the latter three in the village Bradet (Hungarian Bregyét házcsoport ), built in the 19th century), are listed buildings.
  • A 4.10 meter high monument in honor of the Romanian soldiers from the First and Second World War, was built in the center of the community in the years 1943 and 1944.
