Alois Arnegger

Alois Arnegger ( born March 9, 1879 in Vienna, † August 11, 1963 ) was an Austrian landscape painter.

Life

Arnegger studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Robert Russ and August Eisenmenger and was known primarily for his work as a landscape painter. Initially, he created images of Austrian landscapes such as the Alps or the wine village of Senftenberg, in which he often spent his summers. According to his study trips to Italy in the 1920s, his focus was more on Mediterranean coastal landscapes, including views of Naples, Capri and San Remo.

Arnegger tried like several other landscape painters, whom to meet by industrialization and by war -stricken society something, and her desire for a perfect world and unspoilt nature (eg "Alpine Romance" ) to revive through which he could gain notoriety at the end.

Arnegger died in 1963 aged 84, in Vienna. His son Gottfried Arnegger was a painter.

Work

From Alois Arnegger exist hundreds of oil paintings, mainly located in private ownership. Especially his mountain landscapes appear regularly at art auctions ( eg Dorotheum ), where they are proclaimed at prices 2000-10000 euros.
