Alois Dryák

Alois Dryák ( born February 24, 1872 in Olšany, part of Brandýsek, Okres Kladno, Bohemia, then Austria - Hungary, † June 6, 1932 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) was a Czech architect and university professor.

Life

Dryák was a professor at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague at the beginning of the 20th century. He is known for his designs for jewelry details at various Art Nouveau buildings in Prague and for school buildings in Bohemia. The sculptural decoration of the base of the monument to the St. Wenceslas on Wenceslas Square in Prague has been designed by him. Several buildings were constructed in the years after the First World War in the style of cubism and functionalism in Prague and Brno in Moravia.
