Alois Friedrich Rogenhofer

Alois Friedrich Rogenhofer ( born December 22, 1831 in Vienna, † January 15, 1897 ) was an Austrian entomologist. He was curator at the Natural History Museum in Vienna, where he was involved in the butterfly collection. His main interest was the butterflies and Hymenoptera ( Hymenoptera). According to him, some butterflies and insects are named.

At his side stood the passionate collector Josef Mann (1804-1889), who has repeatedly supply the Museum with its collections. Man himself described many species of butterflies and was particularly on small butterflies ( Microlepidoptera ) specialized.

Rogenhofer was buried at Vienna's Central Cemetery.
