Alondra de la Parra

Alondra de la Parra ( born October 31, 1980 in New York City ) is a Mexican conductor.

Life

At the age of two years, her family moved to Mexico. At seven, she began to play the piano, with thirteen she received cello lessons, with 16 she moved to London. Upon her return to Mexico she studied at the Centro de Investigación y Estudios Musicales in Mexico City composition before they went with twenty years in New York City at the Manhattan School of Music where she studied piano with Jeffrey Cohen and conducting with Kenneth Kiesler. Alondra de la Parra lives with her husband in New York City.

In 2004 at the age of 23 years Alondra de la Parra founded the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA ) in New York with the aim of the work Young soloists and composers in North and South America to promote. The POA goes on international tours and performs competitions by young composers. The only previous recording is Mi Alma Mexicana / My Mexican Soul with the POA 2010

Alondra de la Parra as guest conductor conducted the following orchestras:

  • North America: the symphony of Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Phoenix, Columbus and San Antonio, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the New World Symphony Orchestra Miami, the Canadian Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Washington National Opera. Since 2005 she has been musical director of the Music Festival of the Americas in Stowe, Vermont.
  • Germany: the Potsdam Chamber Academy, the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra and participation in the Festspiele Mecklenburg -Vorpommern
  • Denmark: Tivoli Symphony Orchestra
  • Russia: the Russian National Orchestra
  • Brazil: the Symphony Orchestra of Sao Paulo
  • Mexico and the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de Mexico, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa ( Xalapa ) and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional
  • Venezuela: the Venezuelan Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra
  • Argentina: the Philharmonic Orchestra of Buenos Aires, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Aguascalientes (Aguascalientes )
