Alor Setar
Alor Setar ( Alor Star also ) is the capital of the Malaysian state of Kedah.
Geography
Alor Setar is located in the north of the Malay Peninsula by the river Kedah, a few kilometers inland from its mouth in the Andaman Sea and less than 50 kilometers in a straight line from the border with Thailand away.
Population
In a narrower urban area to live (2010 ) 116 624 inhabitants. Including the suburbs which will cover together with the select city an area of approximately 665 km2, Alor Setar comes to a total of 357 176 inhabitants ( as of 2010), making it one of the largest cities Kedahs.
Traffic
The Sultan Abdul Halim Airport is approximately thirteen kilometers north of the city.
Personalities
Two of the six previously Prime Minister of Malaysia was born in Alor Setar, Mahathir bin Mohamad and Abdul Rahman.
