Haehnlein was the first time in 1333 in the Lorsch Codex under the name Hennechen mentioned.

The name has nothing to do with a cock. Spellings as HAINLIN ( 1578) show that the name is derived from Hagen, ie a colony in a forest. The core of the later village settlement formed the Hainer Hof, the subsequent rescue center and today's mayoralty.

The municipality was created as part of municipal reform in Hesse on 1 January 1977 by the merger by law of the two formerly independent communities Alsbach and Haehnlein under the name Alsbach. On January 1, 1978, this church was renamed in Alsbach. Local districts were formed in the community.
